Charles Gillette Snead, a Richmond native and son of a Landscape Contractor has been practicing landscape architecture for over twenty-five years as principal of Snead Associates, P.C. Since graduating from Virginia Tech in 1985 with a degree in Landscape Architecture and opening his own design firm in 1990, Mr. Snead has designed projects for the City of Richmond, City of Atlanta, Georgia and Washington DC. His outdoor design projects include landscapes and hardscapes for Airports, Train Stations, City Parks, Office Developments as well as playgrounds, swimming pools, bike trails, scenic roadways and private homes. Most recently, construction was completed on Mr. Snead’s redesign of Kanawha Plaza an urban pocket park in downtown Richmond. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Mr. Snead learned at an early age that he enjoyed visiting, camping and hiking in beautiful outdoor environments. His love of biology, geology, trees, shrubs and perennials combined well with his interests in art, design and construction which lead him to pursue a career in landscape architecture.
