Opening this book transports the reader to the world of the Old South, experiencing the unique and glowing cultural life of the pre-war South. The story follows the life of Scarlett O’Hara, a Southern aristocrat whose prominent Georgian family lives at Tara, their classical plantation home. The reader will see Scarlett through her days as a selfish and ungrateful debutant as she desperately, and rather cleverly, seeks the unbridled love and devotion of every boy in the county.

Gone With the Wind was released in movie form in 1939, instantly becoming a blockbuster hit. Besides the fact that the technicolor revolution is exemplified here, the cast and script represent the best of American cinema. At the time, one movie had never received such universal attention- showered in accolades and being the most popular movie for decades. It is a classic. Plain and simple, it is a classic. I recommend this movie to anyone, to everyone. You do not need to be a Civil War buff, a historian, nor a senior citizen just to enjoy this movie. It has everything for everyone.
