Gellman Room

The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia presents “Just Kidding” with Jordan Bak, viola, Fitz Gary, viola, Grant Houston, violin, Mari Lee, violin, and James Wilson, cello. Comedy has been an essential part of dealing with the human condition for thousands of years, and for centuries, composers have given us musical humor to tickle our funny bones whether we're alone at home or at a concert. CMSCVA celebrates the lighter side of life in this concert of chamber music by Haydn, Heinrich von Biber, and the fictitious P. D. Q. Bach.

The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia was formed in 2004 to explore new ways to program and present the chamber music art form. Our initial project in 2005 was to form a chamber music festival called the “Richmond Festival of Music.” In that first festival we presented four concerts with a variety of chamber music including a concert performance of Henry Purcell’s opera “Dido and Aeneas.”
