You may come in and set up a bit before 10, preferably no earlier than 9:30. Enter at the front door and tell them you are with the Indie Urban Lit Fest. Security will direct you where to go.
There is a parking garage across the street from the library at 107 E. Franklin that charges 5$ per day. There is also free on street parking available but you may have to move your car periodically to avoid a ticket.
The lower Level of the Main branch of the Richmond Public Library at 101. E. Franklin St.
There are many nice dining options in downtown Richmond but we will have a food truck on-site from M&F Jamaican (and it is delicious!). Registered authors get a 2$ discount from M&F Jamaican (courtesy of the library) on their meal. Simply show your badge when you order to receive the discount. As in the past there will be some light refreshments, including coffee and water, in the auditorium.
The 6 foot tables will be reserved for authors who are sharing tables, the 4 foot tables will be for the authors exhibiting individually. Tables will be assigned this year.
Workshops & activities:
There are four fantastic workshops scheduled and I encourage you to take advantage of these. Try to team up with your neighboring authors to watch each other’s booths or bring friends so you can wander around and take part in the other activities. Remember: this is part book fair, part festival. The panel discussion with Nikki Turner, K’wan and Silk White will begin around noon and will take place in the auditorium with all of you so everyone will get the opportunity to engage. In Library Park we will have live music by Tiara & Andrew!
Other fun stuff:
Authors who would like to participate in the Hull Street Festival on October 20th, 2018 (from 11-7) can sign up for a * special author rate * of $25 (the rate will increase to $35 after August 1st). The regular cost for vendors is $75. That price does not include a table. This might be a fun opportunity to have a lit fest reunion in the fall. Just let me know next Saturday if you’ll be interested and I’ll get you the details.
We have library tote bags for all of you at check in so make sure you stop by and say Hi, get your badge and your bag, and we can answer any questions you might have.
