Volunteer

Volunteer with Richmond Public Library

Volunteers are an essential part of our library community. Whether you’re looking to give back, gain experience, or support library programs, there are many ways to get involved.

Adults & College Students

Volunteers support the library in a variety of ways, from assisting with programs and special projects to helping with day-to-day tasks like shelving and organizing materials. These opportunities are a great way to give back to your community or build your resume.
We also welcome college students seeking internship opportunities.

Teens

Teens who need community service hours are encouraged to get involved at their neighborhood branch. Opportunities may vary by location.
To get started, please contact the Youth Services Librarian or Branch Manager at your local library.

Friends of the Library

Support the library through the Friends of the Library, a volunteer group that helps fundraise and advocate for library services. Friends play a key role in organizing and running the semi-annual book sales.

Please note: We are unable to accommodate court-mandated community service.
