Where is the Memory Lab?

The Memory Lab is located in the Main Library at 101 E. Franklin Street. Walk in the front door to the lobby and turn right after the Welcome Desk. Continue down the short hall and into the large foyer with the skylight above. The Memory Lab will be on your left, right next to the Richmond Room, where you may find additional public history resources for your project.

What is the Lab used for?

The Memory Lab is a place for people to digitize materials, conduct oral histories, and learn methods for archiving and preservation for personal, family and organizational materials.

Whether it is a box of Kodachrome slides, home movies on VHS, or an oral history on audio cassette, we have the tools to help you preserve and share your personal or family history with whoever you choose.

What if I don’t know how to use the resources, or need help?

Use the “Book the Memory Lab” link above to sign up for a time to use our equipment and meet with library staff who have expertise in the equipment and in preservation and digitization methods. We are here to help you.
