All libraries will be closed Friday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

East End

Though urban farming is a growing trend in the East End and the restaurant scene is flourishing, the East End Library has always been interested in food! In the 1960s, one of the earliest programs was an oyster shucking demonstration by George Jackson - a world champion oyster-shucker capable of cracking open an oyster every 3 seconds.
