RPL Introduces Auto Renewals

Forgot about your library items? Need more time to finish those long books? No worries.

Our automatic renewal service will take care of the renewals for you. All items eligible for renewal will be automatically renewed 1 day before their due date (up to 4 times). And, there’s no sign up involved. All patrons are automatically enrolled in this new program.

How It Works

  • Any items on your account that are eligible for renewal will now auto-renew 1 day before their due date.

  • No sign up required as all patrons are automatically enrolled.

  • Most physical items are eligible for automatic renewal.

Will I Receive A Call Or Text?

  • No. Courtesy notices informing you of your renewals will only be sent by email.

Can I still manually renew?

  • Yes, all renewals – whether manual or automatic – will count towards your total renewals.

Non-Eligible Items

  • Items on hold for another patron.

  • Items that have reached the maximum number of renewals(4).

  • If there are 10 or more overdue items on the account, items will be non-eligible for auto renewal.

  • Accounts blocked due to lost or damaged fees or referral fees of $10 or more will also disqualify items from auto renewal.

  • Digital items such as eBooks, eAudiobooks, etc.

  • Interlibrary(ILL) items.

How Many Times Will An Item Auto-Renew?

  • If eligible, items will automatically renew up to 4 times.

Opting Out

  • No, opting out is not an option at this time.

Did My Items Get Automatically Renewed?

  • If you receive reminder notices by email, your email notice will tell you which items did or did not auto-renew along with the due dates.

  • If you did not sign up for email notices and would like to find out if your item has been automatically renewed, you will need to either:

    • Log in to your online account to check your due dates.

    • Call or visit any library location and staff will be happy to assist you.

Why Didn't My Items Auto Renew?

  • Items may be non-eligible.

  • Items that can’t be automatically renewed will keep their original due dates.

Auto Renewal and Interlibrary Loans

  • Automatic renewals are not available for interlibrary loan materials. Renewals of these materials must be approved by the lending library. For assistance, please contact us.
