April is National Card and Letter Writing Month.

I have a wee problem with greeting cards.  I buy a lot of them.  A lot.  Not too long ago, I spent a good portion of a day organizing them, and had to use gallon-sized ziploc bags for each category.  They have outgrown a hatbox, and are now stored in a storage bin.  (But they’re organized!)  So, I have this little problem with buying cards, but I also have a problem with sending them.  They were so carefully selected!  What if the recipient just looks at the card and (gasp!) throws it away?  The horror!

But, I have decided that I will send out cards and write letters this April.  I have stamps, and I have a brand new pen with bright blue ink.  I just have to let go of some of my cards …

If you can’t get in the mood to hand write cards or letters this month, check out two booklists with plots that revolve around the handwritten word:

Epistolary Fiction” – features novels in the form of letters, notes, and other written correspondence.

Dear Diary” – features fiction in the form of journals, diary entries, screenplays, marginalia, and more.
