Are you thinking about … recipes? Many of us start thinking about cooking or baking in November because of Thanksgiving, which signals the start of eatin’ season. I love to look at cook books, but I’m really not much of a cook. For years, I was relegated to “bring potato chips and pop” for any family gathering because of a distrust of my little-used culinary skills. Eventually, I was promoted to cake baking and side dishes (my roasted brussel sprouts and my macaroni and cheese are pretty darn good!) I haven’t gotten a culinary assignment for Thanksgiving this year. I may have full autonomy to decide!
The Richmond Public Library has plenty of cookbooks for inspiration, recipes, or just drooling over (but not on the books, please!) The library has what you need to plan your Thanksgiving menu, or to learn how to cook. Start looking in the 641.5 area, or ask library staff to show you. We’re happy to help! Don’t forget to check out RB Digital for online magazine access – lots of “foodie” titles, chock full of recipes.

Maybe you just want to get into a Food Mood. In that case, try some delectable fiction featuring food. From romances to cozy mysteries and everything in between, you are sure to find something “tasty” on one of these lists:
Cooking up a Mystery – culinary whodunits
Foodie Fiction – fiction good enough to eat!
Professional Food – fiction set in restaurants, bakeries, and cooking schools
A Taste of Love – delicious love stories
When the Secret Ingredient is … Magic – fiction with food, and a little bit of magic
But seriously, who knew there were so many foodstuffs celebrated this month, and so many individual days devoted to comestibles in November? One could spend just about every day on festive feast commemorations.
