September is one of my favorite months for new publications because it never seems to disappoint and will inevitably triple my TBR pile. Here’s just a handful of highlights of this month’s new books, but as always check out our online catalog to see what’s just come in and our website for what’s coming out next month.
September 1
This week brings us a sequel to a popular series, a 2026 Booker Prize nominee, and coming of age stories with some magical realism thrown in.
My pick for this week:
Under Story by Chloe Benjamin

My pick for this week:
Switzy by Emma Cline
Another 2026 Booker Prize nominee, as well as one of my favorite contemporary authors.
From the Publisher: A mesmerizing portrait of an aging man’s last pilgrimage, from the New York Times bestselling author of The Girls and The Guest.
September 15
The publications this week are stacked with heavy hitters, a popular series conclusion, as well as another addition in a popular mystery series.
My pick for this week:
Children of the Wolf by Abby Geni
A book about a serial killer who is also a beekeeper…sold!
From the Publisher: A woman notices a pattern of men disappearing in her small town, reawakening memories of her childhood raised by a father obsessed with his violent Viking heritage.
September 22
The return of a popular author to Fiction, a dystopian story set in England, a historical horror story set in the 1920s, a cat clinic for the soul, and a thrilling gangster novel make up this week’s publications.
My pick for this week:
Cloud Six by Amy Fusselman
I love books that can add some dark humor to a serious topic.

September 29
The end of the month publications will not disappoint with books from another prolific American author, a psychological thriller about a popular trend, a prequel to one of the most popular fantasy series, a continuation of the study of dementia and families, and the long-awaited next novel by a National Award finalist.
My pick for this week:
The Cutting Garden written by Darcy Van Poelgeest and illustrated by Erin Connally
I’m a sucker for a beautiful cover and even better when it’s also a graphic novel full of beautiful artwork and an intriguing story.
From the Publisher: A mysterious young girl seeks out a florist to deliver a painful truth that will forever change them both in this tender, gothic drama about our need for love and the creatures we become in its absence.
