September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic American Heritage Month! Please join us in paying tribute to the many generations of Hispanic Americans who have enriched and positively influenced our nation. We have several fun events planned to celebrate the history and culture of these peoples. We hope you’ll attend one or more and join in the fun!

Taino Rock Carvings

Belmont — Monday, September 26 @ 4:30 PM


Get to know the history of the Taino, an indigenous people that many Puerto Ricans, Cubans, and Dominicans can trace their heritage back to. We will learn more about the beautiful carvings the Taino made and try our hand at carving clay ourselves.

Sample a menu of delectable reading selections by Hispanic authors! Encounter new writers and literary styles! Explore the Spanish-speaking world through literature (books will be in English)! Meet new people and have fun!

Jenn Deuell is a Librarian with Richmond Public Library. She is a native of Fredericksburg, VA but has lived in Richmond for long enough that she now considers it home.
