New Year, new you? How about New Year, new take on a classic?

These YA fictional retellings breathe new life into time honored classic stories and refresh beloved fairy tales. Blending familiar narratives and a fresh perspective, these books explore the lives of diverse characters and reflect upon contemporary themes in a way that will transfix the modern reader. While these stories honor the appeal of their inspiration, they also look inward on deeper issues such as social justice, identity, and resilience.

Besides connecting on a more authentic level with today’s contemporary young adult readers, the authors of these reimaginings infuse their works with rich creativity as they spin their delicate webs in order to both echo the words of those who came before and expand on their ideas to create new works entirely their own.
