Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually in the United States starting on September 15, which was chosen to coincide with the Independence Days of several Hispanic nations, and ending on October 15. Hispanic Heritage Month highlights the rich and complex cultures and histories of Hispanic, Latino, and Latine/Latinx Americans, whose ancestors immigrated from the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Spain, and South America.
While Hispanic Americans are celebrated everyday through representation in RPL’s collection, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month as an opportunity to honor the contributions of Hispanic Americans by showcasing Hispanic authors and characters in our Young Adult collection. Join us by checking out the following book titles and digital resources to learn more and/or by attending one of our Hispanic Heritage themed crafting events.
